MAKASSAR FESTICAL 2016

THE 8th FESTIVAL OF THE CULINARY ARTS WILL BE HELD AT THE PALM HOTEL  & SPA FROM THE COMING 4th TO THE 6th MARCH

From the 4th to the 6th March 2016, the Palm Hotel & Spa and the Palm Wine Cellars will host big names in French cuisine and renowned wine-growers from wine-making regions of France and South Africa, on the occasion of the Makassar Festival:

• Alexandre BOURDAS, head chef at the restaurant Sa.Qua.Na, holder of two Michelin stars;
• 
Jacques Genin, pastry chef and chocolatier, owner of the chocolate factory of the same name in Paris;
• 
Nicolas Billecart, representing Champagne Billecart-Salmon;
• 
 Mr. Béraut, representing Domaine de Pellehaut (Côtes de Gascogne wines) and Château de Pellehaut (Armagnac);
• David Quillin, representing the wine cellars Tain L’Hermitage (Rhone Valley);
• Evan Alexander for Boekenhoutskloof (organic agriculture estate in Franschhoek, South Africa);
• Reyneke (organic agriculture estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa).

These talented chefs and the sponsors of the Makassar Festival 2016 will meet over gourmet menus, with the dishes being enhanced by the finest recommendations from our wine-making guests. The Makassar Festival also holds an exhibition, allowing you to discover a selection of the best local, Reunion products, and to encounter the guest wine-growers’ wines, not forgetting the Cooking Live Shows put on by the chefs or the organised oenology competition …

For the eighth consecutive year, the Palm Hotel & Spa wishes to promote the culinary arts, against the backdrop of this festival celebrating the cuisine and wine of the island of Reunion. With its quality, local products like vanilla, Bourbon Pointu coffee, turmeric or even Victoria pineapples, it’s a destination of choice for food-lovers : to be enjoyed without moderation!

Friday, 4th March 2016

7:30 PM: Aperitifs at Kah Beach & Restaurant
8:30PM: Sampling dinner of Makassar’s food and wines

Saturday, 5th March 2016

2 – 6 PM: Exhibition, with guests including our wine-growing partners and their products, local producers and artisans, the Palm Wine Cellars and the oenology competition.
Hourly Cooking Live Show/oenology.

7:30 PM: Aperitifs at Kah Beach & Restaurant
8:30PM: Sampling dinner of Makassar’s food and wines

Sunday, 6th March 2016

12:30 PM: Lunch on the Deck, Palm’s luxury brasserie. Set menu only, with three courses, a complimentary champagne aperitif, and a wine list exclusively consisting of wines by our wine-making guests.

2 – 5:30 PM: Exhibition, with guests including our wine-growing partners and their products, local producers and artisans, the Palm Wine Cellars and the oenology competition.
Hourly Cooking Live Show/oenology.

5:30 PM: closing of the festival with the announcement of the oenology competition results.
