To coincide with last trade events of the year and a few days after the WTM in London, the figures for tourist visits to the islands were published for the period from January to August 2015.

THEY SHOWED THE FOLLOWING DEVELOPMENTS

Combined trips – (minimum 2 nights per destination)
Variation (%)/2014*

Réunion <-> Mauritius 14
Mauritius <-> Seychelles 22
Madagascar <-> Mauritius -9.3
Réunion <-> Madagascar -6.9
Réunion <-> Mayotte 2.9
Madagascar <-> South Africa 29

TOTAL Combined 12
*in descending order of the number of arrivals.

The total number of tourist arrivals for inter-island combined trips has increased by 12% since the beginning of the year. In terms of volume, Réunion/Mauritius was particularly popular with an increase of 14%. It alone accounts for nearly 68% of the total combined trips sold in 2015, making it a favourite with tourists. In terms of sales for upcoming visits, the trend towards the end of the year indicates an overall increase of nearly 5%.

2015 should therefore be a good year for combined inter-island travel. The implemented strategy has been effective.
